Social distancing – Day 105

Hurjan myrskyn teki meille! jonkun verran osui Päivön liepeitä tielle matkalla Etelä-Karjalasta Keski-Suomeen. Toisinaan tuuli hieman keinutti autoa ja toisinaan tuulilasinpyyhkimet joutuivat urakoimaan. Puut matalla kaartuivat kauas tuossa kovassa tuulessa ja jokunen oli rysähtänyt poikki. Toivotaan ettei kovin pahaksi heittäydy tuo Päivö edetessään kohti itää.

We got a heavy storm today, called Päivö. I met with some of it’s tails on my way from South-Karelia to Middle Finland this evening. Sometimes the wind rocked the car, sometimes the windshied wipers had to work overtime. Trees were bending quite a bit the whole way from the harsh wind, some even snapped half. I hope this Päivö doesn’t do too much damage on it’s way to east.

Palstalla alkaa kukkia, pieniä nuppuja jo havaittavissa kesäkurpitsan taimissa. Voi kun ne vielä muutaman hellepäivän jaksaisivat, niin sitten helpottaisi sateiden muodossa ensi viikolla. 

There are small buds appearing at the zucchinis. Hope they will survive these few more days of heat and then they’ll get relief as it is supposed to start raining next week.

–  Kävelykierroksella pellolla löysin näitä yksilöllisiä palstoja ja viljelytekniikoita. On mukava katella mitä muut tekevät, sielä saa aina ideoita. / Went for a walk around the vegetable fields and these are the most unique lots  found there. It is always interesting to see what the others are doing. –

Tänä lauantaina artistina Jim Croce, joka menehtyi valitettavasti lento-onnettomuudessa jo 1973. Albumeja hän kerkesi tehdä kolme ja tässä tulee hänen kolmannelta, postuumisti ilmestyneeltä, ‘I Got A Name‘ -albumilta sen nimikkobiisi. Tämä sopii matkamusiikkikategoriaan.

Today’s artist is Jim Croce, who unfortunately lost his life in a plane crash at 1973. Today’s song is ‘I Got A Name‘, from the album with same title from 1973. This is good music for a road trip.

Social distancing – Day 101

Koronarajoitukset ovat jo hellittäneet terveydenhuollossa ja pääsin tänään katsomaan Äitiä sairaalaan. Vein hänelle vaatteita ensi viikkoista kotiutumista silmällä pitäen. En tiennyt että siellä pääsee jo osastolle saakka, peräti huoneeseen saakka. Olin taas valmistautunut jäämään oven taakse tai korkeintaan päästä yleisiin tiloihin. Äiti oli reippaana ja iloisena, kelasi pyörätuolilla käytäviä odotellen kotiin pääsyä. 

Corona restrictions have eased up at the hospitals, witch took me by surprise. Went to take some clothes to Mom, because she’s coming home next week. I was prepared to stand behind the door once more, or meet her at a hallway. They let me in all the way to her room. She was reeling with her wheelchair at the corridor, happy and waiting to get home.

Social distancing – Day 100

Sadannen päivän kunniaksi eristäydyin ystävän kesämökin laiturin päähän seurustelemaan palvomaan aurinkoa. Sieltä oli myös hyvä välillä hypätä vilvoittelemaan, tosin järven vesi oli lämpötilaltaan kuin kylpyvettä. Siinä vain kastui. Mukava päivä kaikkinensa. 

I celebrated the 100 th by isolating myself at the end of a friend’s summer house’s dock to enjoy the sun. It was a good place to jump in the lake to get wet, that’s all. The water was so warm that it felt like a bath. It was a nice day.

Social distancing – Day 99

Lämpöä alkaa olla sen verran mukavasti, että tällainen vilukissakin tarkenee. Jyväskylään tänään hurauttaessani siellä oli vastassa oikein mukavat lukemat.

The weather in Finland is getting really nice for someone like me who’s always feeling cold. Drove up to Jyväskylä today and there were very nice welcoming temperatures.

Päivän jännitysmomentti oli, että vieläkö kasvimaalla on mitään hengissä ja kuten kuvasta näkyy pavut ovat ainakin itäneet varsin hyvin. Kyllä musta vielä viljelijä tulee! Kaikin puolin siellä oli kaikki hyvin, kastelinhan todella runsaasti ennen juhannusta ja maassa oli harsojen alla vieläkin kosteutta. Pari penkkiä siellä on sen näköistä josko niistä mitään tulee, mutta niitä en ole tarkoituksella kastellut lainkaan. Kylvinkin ne vasta ihan viimeisessä satsissa, joten aika näyttää miten käy. 

I was a bit worried if there was anything alive at the vegetable lot after almost a week’s absence, but as you can see the beans have germinated quite nicely. I will be a grower one of these days! Over all everything was fine there. I wasn’t too worried because I watered really well before Midsummer and the covers help keep the soil moist. There are couple of beds that doesn’t show much yet, but I haven’t watered them at all in purpose. I want to see if they start to grow when the rain comes.

Värikollaasit: Kollaasi 237 (25/2020)

Tällä viikolla vaihdettiin mausteista perhosiin värikollaasien teemaa ja viikon sävyt löytyvät apolloperhosesta.

The theme for the color collages changed this week from spices to butterflies. This weeks colors come from a apollo butterfly (Parnassius apollo).

Social distancing – Day 97

Hiljaista on toreilla ja turuilla. Lisää helpotuksia ihmisten arkeen on jälleen saatu hallituksen taholta tästä päivästä lukien. Ravintolat voivat olla auki aamukahteen, tosin tarjoilu loppuu jo yhdeltä. Asiakkaita saavat ottaa aiempaa enemmän, peräti 2/3 asiakaspaikoista saa täyttyä. Ruokaravintoloissa buffetpöydistä itse ruoan ottaminen on sallittu. Ravintoloiden on huolehdittava, että etäisyysrajoista pidetään edelleen kiinni. Olisin kyllä mielelläni nähnyt, että palvelukulttuuri olisi kokenut renesanssin ja ravintoloissa ruokatarjoiluun oltaisiin panostettu.

The market place looks still very quiet. Today the government lifted some more of the restrictions. Bars can be open until 2 am, however liquor serving stops at 1 am. At the restaurants buffets are aloud once more and you can collect your own food to a plate. I would rather seen the service culture flourish again. Restaurants will have to take care of the customer seating distances themselves. They are aloud to take customers to 3/4’s of the seating capacity.
