Saturday Classics – 29052021

Olen tässä parin päivän aikana kuunnellut kaikki The Policen julkaisemat albumit pariin kertaan, kokoomalevyjä lukuunottamatta, ja etsinyt yhtä tiettyä biisiä löytämättä sitä. Päivän biisinä kuitenkin The Policea ja ‘Walking On The Moon‘. Tämä vuonna 1979 julkaistu biisi löytyy ‘Reggata De Blanc‘ albumilta ja se on Stingin käsialaa.

Today song comes from the 1979 ‘Reggata De Blanc‘ album by The Police. ‘Walking On The Moon‘ is written by Sting. I’ve been listening all five of their albums at least twice during the past couple of days looking for some other song. We’ll listen to that when I find it.

Päivän biisi näki päivänvalon vuonna 1983 ja oli ensimmäinen single Eurythmicsin ‘Touch‘ albumilta ja kipusi ryminällä listoille Atlantin molemmilla puolilla. ‘Here Comes the Rain Again‘ on Lennoxin ja Stewartin käsialaa. Pääsin seuraavan vuoden elokuussa näkemään bändin livenä Coloradon Red Rocks amfiteatterissa ja se konsertti menee sinne top-kymppiin kaikista näkemistäni. Annie Lennoxin lauluääni on huumaa maagisuudellaan kuulijansa.

This song by Eurythmics was released at 1983 from the ‘Touch‘ album. It became istant hit song on both sides of Atlantic. ‘Here Comes the Rain Again‘ is written by Lennox and Stewart. I had a change to see them in concert the following year at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. That one goes easily to the top ten concerts I’ve ever seen. Annie’s singing voice is so magical.

Heitetäänpä kehiin aamusiirapit Playererin ’Baby Come Back’ biisin myötä. Tämä, vuonna ’Player’-albumilta 1977 lohkaistu kappale, jäi bändin suurimmaksi hitiksi. Sen suuremmaksi tämä jenkkibändi ei koskaan tullut, soittelivat stadionkeikkoja ja toimivat lämmittelijöinä vähän suuremmille staroille tuolta 70-luvun loppupuolelta 80-luvun alkuvuosiin. Bändi kuitenkin sitkutteli kasassa ja taitaapa soitella vieläkin. Bändin jäsenistä osa jatkoi musiikillista uraansa ja joku vaihtoi telkkariin.

Here comes early morning musical syryp in form of Player’s ’Baby Come Back’. This number one song was released at 1977 and it can be found from the ’Player’ album. This american band never became bigger than this song. They were popular band as stadion warm ups for bigger names. They broke up at the eighties, but got back together later on and are still playing some gicks. Over the years some of the members continued their music career and some one went to a tv.

Loikataanpa takaisin 60-luvun loppupuolelle, tarkemmin ottaen vuoteen 1969 jolloin päivän biisi näki päivän valon ja kipusi Brittien listoilla ykköseksi. Thunderclap Newman oli yhden hitin ihme, studiomuusikoista koottu bändi joka ei jaksanut pidemmälle pakertaa yhdessä. ‘Something In The Air‘ on bändin rumpalin, Speedy Keenin kirjoittama ja Pete Townshend yllytti tätä perustamaan bändin tämän yhden biisin esittämiseksi. Bändi hajosi jo seuraavana vuonna ja sen jäsenet jatkoivat studiomuusikkoina.

We’ll jump back to the late sixties this week. At 1969 Thunderclap Newman released today’s song. The band was so called ‘one hit wonder’ with this ‘Something In The Air‘ written by Speedy Keen. Keen was Pete Townshend‘s roommate and Pete agitated Keen to get a group of studio musicians to form a band to perform this song. The band broke up the following year and it’s members continued as studio musicians.

Lovely Pullervo, a Saimaa Ringed Seal, is back on the rocks. These extremely endangered freshwater seals get up to a rock to dry up their skin during spring time. We have a live cam where you can watch Pullervo seal enjoying spring days. This is so relaxing to watch, the best reality show ever!

There are only 410 Saimaa Ringed Seals left and we like to help them as much as we can. I’ve never seen one in the nature although I live at the region.

Tällä päivällä nimetty hassu pieni biisi isoilta ääniltä on ‘First of May‘. Bee Gees teki tämän jos vuonna 1969, siis paljon ennen suurta kuuluisuutta. Se löytyy ‘Odessa‘ albumilta ja taisi olla pienoinen hitti siellä täällä Eurooppaa. Biisin nimellä ei ole mitään tekemistä Vapun tai toukokuun kanssa, vaan se on Barry Gibbin koiran syntymäpäivä.

This small silly song is named with todays date, ‘First of May‘, is by the Bee Gees. The song was released at 1969 and it’s to found from the ‘Odessa‘ album that was the sixth studio album of the brothers Gibb. The name of the song has nothing to do of first of May, but it was the birthday of Barry‘s dog.
