December Blues

Todella nautin tämän vuoden Marraskuun selätyksestä kuvien ja musiikin parissa. Kiitos Susupetalille ja Ritvalle osallistumisesta ja tässä pieni muisto osallistumisesta.

Talvi saapui karjalaan pienen lumisateen myötä näin joulukuun aluksi. Ehkä sen kestää mukavan marraskuun jälkeen.

Winter arrived to Karelia with some snow for this early December. I think I can manage it again.

Saturday Classics – 11062022

Se on taas se aika vuodesta kun kasvuun liittyvät asiat käyvät tärkeiksi ja pääsee muokkaamaan maata. Tänään kuullaan amerikkalainen lasten laulu ’The Garden Song’ John Denverin esittämänä. Laulun on kirjoittanut David Mallett vuonna 1975 ja siitä on tehty lukuisia versioita.

It is time of gardening again and cultivating soil is the most important thing to do. Today we’ll be hearing John Denver’s version of a popular American children’s song ’The Gardening Song’. The song is written by David Mallett  at 1975 and there are numerous versions made by different artists.

Finger clipping weather

Kävin aamulla Imatralla enkä malttanut olla käymättä vesivoimalaitoksella katsomassa sumun muodostumista veden pintaan. Pakkasta oli -24 C˚, muutaman kuvan kerkesi ottamaan ennen kuin sormet hyytyivät.

Visited the neighbouring city, Imatra, this morning and managed to take few pictures at the hydroelectric power-plant before my fingers were frozen. The temperature was -24 C˚ and I wanted to see how the fog was forming on the top of the water.

Sunrise at a highrise

Pääsin aamulla kipuamaan korkean kerrostalon yläterassille katselemaan auringonnousua tuossa sairaalan kulmilla. Pakkasta kuvanottohetkellä oli -17 C˚.

I had an opportunity this morning to visit a highrise next to our hospital and experience the sunrise from there. We had a cold day and there were -17 degrees at the time of these photos.

Rok Rok

Aloitin kuntokuurin ja hyvän sään salliessa yritän näin aluksi kävellä mahdollisimman paljon. Korona ja etätyö ovat myös tuoneet muutaman ylimääräisen kilon vyötärölle, jotka ajattelin heittää pois. Tie on pitkä ja kivinen, mutta tehdäkseni matkasta mielenkiintoista päätin alkaa kuvaamaan kävelyreitin varrelta yksityiskohtia. Näin saa alkunsa uusi kategoria: kävelyreitin varrelta.

I’ve started a fitness program of my own and I’m trying to walk as much as possible when the weather is reasonable. Corona time and remote work is showing on my waist and that’s something to get rid off. To make this walking process more interesting I’m going to take photos along the way and post them under a new category called: along the walkway.

Jäätyvää / Freezing

Näyttää talvelta, muutama sentti lunta ja järven pinta jäässä. Petollista harhaa. Olen tässä yrittänyt muistella miltä sininen taivas näyttää talvisäässä. Viimeksi sellaisesta taitaa olla havaintoa helmikuulta. Päivät pidentyvät tästä harmaudesta huolimatta, tänään päivän pituus näillä leveysasteilla on jo 5 tuntia 10 minuuttia. Aurinko nousee 9:54 ja laskee 14:54.

It looks like winter, a few centimeters of snow and lake is getting ice cover. An deceptive illusion. I’ve been trying to remember what the blue sky looks like in the snowy weather, last time sawn in February. Days are getting longer despite of falling skies. Today sun rises at 9:43 and sets 14:54, leaving us 5 hours and 10 minutes of daylight.
