The first signs of seing arrived to Central Finland today where I’m spending the spring break. the temperature reached +4 C an the sun felt warm. Beautiful day and more to come tomorrow!

Finger clipping weather

Kävin aamulla Imatralla enkä malttanut olla käymättä vesivoimalaitoksella katsomassa sumun muodostumista veden pintaan. Pakkasta oli -24 C˚, muutaman kuvan kerkesi ottamaan ennen kuin sormet hyytyivät.

Visited the neighbouring city, Imatra, this morning and managed to take few pictures at the hydroelectric power-plant before my fingers were frozen. The temperature was -24 C˚ and I wanted to see how the fog was forming on the top of the water.

Rantsulla / At the Beach

Päiväretki luonnon helmaan suuntautui tänään kauniiseen Kyläniemen saaressa sijatsevalle Rastinniemen virkistysalueelle. Kyläniemen saari sijaitsee Taipalsaaren kunnassa, mutta sinne matkataan Ruokolahden kautta. Ajomatkaa tuli lähes kaksi tuntia yhteen suuntaan ja lossillakin köröteltiin osan matkaa.

Traveled to Kyläniemi island today for a day trip. The island located in the Great Lake of Saimaa and there is Rastinnimi recreation park. It takes about two hours to get there and you will travel with a ferry for part of the trip.

Rastinniemi on aivan uskomattoman kaunis paikka ja aion kesällä tehdä uuden retken nautiskelemaan noista upeista rannoista.

Rastinniemes’s nature and beauty is unbelievable and I’ll be sure to visit there again during the summer.

Muistiinpano / Just a Note

Erikoiset sääilmiöt useimmiten pysyvät muistissa, mutta tämän päivän säästä voi jo tehdä muistiinpanon. Koko talvi on yhtä marraskuuta! Pitää vissiin alkaa selättään tammikuuta!

Special weather conditions usually remain in the memory, but this is so unusual for January that I record a note to remember it. The whole winter feels like November. May be it’s time to start ‘How to Survive January’ theme!

Minä en tätä pistä pahakseni, oikeastaan suorastaan nautin kun ei tarvitse palella! Aurinkoa toki olisi kiva toisinaan nähdä, mutta kestän pimeydenkin kunhan ei tarvitse palella kovissa pakkasissa. Tai puskea mahdottomien hankien läpi aamulla töihin. Tämä on juuri sopiva talvisää minulle. Mutta odotellaas sitä helmikuuta rauhassa, sehän on vuoden kylmin kuukausi.

I don’t mind this warm and rainy winter. I’m rather enjoying this frost free time. It would be nice to see the sun every now and then, but I can survive the darkness as long as there are no freezing temperatures or huge piles of snow. This is just my kind of winter weather. We can only wait for February, it’s statistically the coldest month of the year.
