Tänään iltapäivällä julkistettiin pelätty uutinen siitä että myös Etelä-Karjala on siirtynyt kiihtymisvaiheeseen Covid-19 epidemian osalta. Me ollaan saatu olla täällä kuin herran kukkarossa koko tämän korona-ajan hyvin vähäisin tartunnoin verrattuna useaan muuhun maakuntaan. Toki koronan hiipiminen näille seuduille oli odotettavissa koko maan tilanne huomioiden. Meillä on myös tuo raja tuossa vieressä ja kyllä sieltä vain väkeä pujahtaa tänne ja niinpä puolet meidän tartunnoista ovat rajan takaa peräisin. Valitettavasti myös yleinen ilmapiiri tuntuu olevan että ei meillä täällä mitään hätää ole kun ei ole tähänkään asti ollut. Se vähän sieppaa!
Minulla oli viimeiset tunnit tältä lukukaudelta viime perjantaina ja asetuin jo etätöihin tekemään arviointeja sekä valmistelemaan kevättä. Pian kaikki muutkin ovat etätöissä ja opetus järjestetään verkon yli. Sieltä saattaa tulla taas lisää opetusta. Odotellaan rauhassa tarkempia ohjeistuksia. Pysytään terveinä!
Late this afternoon we got the news that our region, South Karelia, has moved to acceleration stage with Covid-19 epidemic. We have been very lucky so far compared to some of the other regions. The Russian border is very close and there is still traffic going through and about half of our infections are from the other side of the border. There is an other thing also that’s bothering me; the attitude of the local people. I’ve heard more than enough someone saying that there’s nothing to worry over here. I wish they would understand the realities!
I had my last lessons on Friday for this semester and began working remote already. Soon everyone else will be working remote as well and the students will go back to distant learning. We’ll know more tomorrow. Stay healthy!
