Yksi suurista valokuvaajista, Elliott Erwitt nukkui pois keskiviikkona 29.11.2023 kunniakkaassa 95 vuoden iässä. Elliott Erwit teki ansiokkaan päivätyön valokuvaajana ja useat hänen kuvistaan ovat maailmanlaajuisesti tunnettuja. Hänen töistään löytyy tarkkanäköistä arjen komediaa, hienoja kuvia elokuvatähdistä ja poliitikoista sekä paljon koiria. Olen aina ihastellut Erwittin taidokkuutta nähdä asioita ja yksinkertaistaa ne herkällä silmällä. Pari vuotta sitten tuli dokumentti hänen työskentelystään nimeltä ‘Silence Sounds Good‘. Parhaiten hänen töihinsä pääsee kuitenkin syventymään on tutkimalla lukuisia kirjoja hänen töistään. Ohessa pieni video hänen töistään ja ajatuksistaan.
One of the great photographers of time, Elliott Erwitt, passed away last Wednesday, the 29th of November, at the age of 95. Mr Erwitt worked as a photographer through his life and so many of his photos are world famous. His work is full of everyday comedy, wonderful shots of film stars and politicians and lots of dogs. I’ve always been a great fan of his work and admired his way of seeing this world and documenting it with subtly and great integrity. There is a document of his work called ‘Silence Sounds Good‘.
